Commonwealth Hand and Physical Therapy is an outpatient rehabilitation practice that specializes in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation as well as complete Physical Therapy services. As Physical Therapist we specialize in the treatment of a wide range of diagnoses to ensure restoration of function and quality of life. Our facilities are equipped to offer our patients an excellent opportunity to reach their optimal functional abilities.

Christian Gryszowka

OTD, OTR/L
Christian graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. After moving from Illinois to Kentucky, Christian graduated from Spalding University in Louisville, KY in 2018 with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. In 2018, he began working as an occupational therapist with Commonwealth Hand and Physical Therapy. In 2022, he completed his post-professional Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) from Spalding University. Christian has been working at our Georgetown, KY clinic since its opening in 2019. He lives in Frankfort, KY, and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

Lauren Ray

Lauren is a native of eastern Kentucky who earned a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Spalding University in 2018. Prior to obtaining her degree in Occupational Therapy, she gained a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from the University of Pikeville in 2014. Lauren is currently an employee at our Hamburg location where she enjoys mentoring graduate students and customizing therapy plans to help individuals achieve success in everyday occupations. With the guidance of her mentors at Commonwealth, Lauren is currently studying to prepare for her specialty certification exam in hand therapy. Outside of work Lauren enjoys the outdoors, cooking, and spending time with her basset hound, Oscar.

Jacob Boone

MS, OTR/L
Jacob is originally from Leitchfield, Ky. He graduated from Western Kentucky University with a bachelor's in Exercise Science. While working in a rehabilitation hospital Jacob developed a passion for assisting people to regain their independence after a traumatic injury or illness. With that focus in mind, Jacob pursued his master's in Occupational Therapy at EKU. Jacob is now working diligently under the guidance of his mentors to become a Certified Hand Therapist.

Ashley McCowan

Ashley is originally from London, Ky. She attended Eastern Kentucky University and received her Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Science in 2019 and her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy in August of 2021. Ashley has been interested in hands since her junior year in college and is excited to get to work and learn from such a talented group of therapists. In her free time, Ashley likes to go to the gym, bake, and spend time with her puppy, Daisy.

Jamie King

MS, OTR/L
Jamie is originally from Corbin, KY. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2015 with a bachelor’s in Occupational Science then in 2017 received a Master's of Science in Occupational Therapy. Jamie is excited to learn and grow as a therapist under the gifted mentorship of the Commonwealth team and aspires to be a Certified Hand Therapist. Outside of the clinic, you can find Jamie exploring the local community with her mini Aussie, Duke.

Lizzie is originally from Pittsburgh, PA. She attended Eastern Kentucky University and received her bachelor’s degree in Occupational Science in 2019 and her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy in July of 2022. Lizzie is excited to be a part of the Commonwealth Hand and Physical Therapy team and aspires to become a Certified Hand Therapist. Outside of work, Lizzie likes to read, bake, hike, or relax at home with her husband, Cody, and two cats, Dottie and Rupert.

Matthew L. Baumann

Matthew is a passionate and proficient clinician who joined the Commonwealth Hand and Physical Therapy team after serving on active duty in the United States Army as an occupational therapist for 8 years. In 2010, Matthew graduated Cum Laude from Bellarmine University with his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, where he was also a member of the men’s soccer team from 2006-2010. Matthew then went on to earn a Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy from Spalding University in 2014, and a Doctor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Baylor University in 2016. Matthew is highly experienced at researching, designing, and delivering holistic health and wellness programming to accommodate an array of adult learning styles and abilities. During his time in service, Matthew worked in a variety of treatment settings and was recognized by the U.S. Military as a subject matter expert and leader in the areas of human performance optimization, injury prevention/risk mitigation, and upper extremity neuro-musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Matthew has published in four different peer-reviewed journals (including the Journal of Hand Therapy), and presented to advanced practicing providers at the national, state, and local level. Matthew’s work was recognized for the “Best Research Paper of the Year” award at the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT) Annual Conference in 2018 and the U.S. Army Medical Specialist Corps Mary Lipscomb Hamrick Best Research Manuscript Award in 2019. Outside of clinical work, Matthew has instructed three separate post-professional doctoral courses to two cohorts of doctoral fellows and he has earned the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F) advanced certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Matthew is currently working with his mentors at Commonwealth Hand and Physical Therapy to become a Certified Hand Therapist and sit for the board exam this calendar year. Matthew chose to become an occupational therapist because he loves helping others optimize individual function, mitigate/prevent further injury, and accelerate return to duty post-injury. Outside of the clinic, Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife (Sarah) and two children (Margot and Leo). He is an avid soccer fan and also serves as a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Savannah Nunnery

Savannah is a native of Eastern Kentucky. She graduated from Berea College in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. In September 2022 she received her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree from Spalding University. Savannah is excited to be a part of the Commonwealth Hand and Physical Therapy team and aspires to become a Certified Hand Therapist under the guidance of her mentors at Commonwealth. Outside of work Savannah enjoys traveling, hiking, playing pickleball, and spending time with her family and friends.

Cody Montgomery

Cody is an occupational therapist originally from Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from the University of Southern Indiana and received a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science in 2018. After working as an exercise physiologist in a neurological clinic for a few years, he attended Spalding University in order to obtain an occupational therapy doctorate degree in 2022. Now, he wants to pursue a board certification to become a Certified Hand Therapist. Outside of work, Cody likes to run, weightlift, watch movies, just relax at home, and spend time with his family and friends.
